Red Cinder´s main building is a two-story home built of redwood and lava stone with open-beam architecture and a wrap-around lanai (deck) on three sides. Most of the living space is on the upper story; no wheelchair access. Artist/owner Helen Chellin custom-designed and furnished the interior. Each bedroom has a distinct design theme, reflected in its name. Handmade comforters created by the owner also represent the theme.
The floor plan on this page will orient you to Red Cinder´s layout. Depending on whether you are here as a visiting artist, part of a Learning Center group, or a vacation renter, some areas of the facility may be unavailable or set up differently. (For example, the Ohia and Honu Rooms may have beds removed to provide more work space for artists.)
