When not in use by Learning Center groups or visiting artists, Red Cinder is available for vacation rentals by visitors seeking a comfortable, convenient home base for their explorations of the Big Island ­ or just for kicking back in beautiful solitude.

Our spacious, solidly built, two-story home is located on 10 private acres near South Point on the Big Island of Hawai´i, about a mile off Highway 11 (the main loop road) at the end of a rural road. (See Location for photos and more information.)

The house sits on a gentle rise above pastures and plantations, adjacent to the Ka´u Forest Reserve. The wraparound lanai (deck) has long pastoral views westward and forest views on the opposite side. The seacoast at South Point is 13 miles away. Days are serenely quiet and mornings filled with birdsong; the night sky swarms with stars.
